Infolytica Offers ElecNet, MagNet, & ThermNet for PCs

Software covering 2D / 3D electric field simulation, EM field simulation, and temperature distribution simulation.

Infolytica Corporation (Montreal, Canada) announced three new 3D simulation products: ElecNet, MagNet, and ThermNet.

ElecNet, Infolytica's new 2D and 3D electric field simulation software now supports nonuniform voltage distribution to accurately represent the operating conditions of devices such as larger scale power transformers or electrical bushings.

By allowing for electrodes to be excited with a nonuniform voltage distribution, it accounts for the variations typically observed in these devices. ElecNet also features the new Streamline Generator, so that streamlines expand on the current postprocessing tools to include charts of the V and |E| fields along a streamline or where values of maximum |E| or |J| occur.

ElecNet is available for PCs running Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, and Vista.

Infolytica also announced that its newest releases of MagNet and ThermNet are available for PCs running Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Vista. ThermNet supports coupling with MagNet's new core loss calculation method that computes the hysteresis plus the anomalous and eddy current losses in both 2D and 3D.

In a simulation, the advanced core loss calculation algorithm for eddy currents takes different harmonics into account and, for hysteresis loss, it takes into account the minor loops. The company also released a case study, "Iron Loss Calculations in Laminated Structures Using MagNet."
